Ah, such a pleasure to see the lovely lands of Eigisengoku again! It really has been far too long. To see my old, beloved battlefield again, to hear the beating of war drums... it truly does gladden my heart!

But please, allow me to introduce myself! I am the Major of the Last Battalion, and it is a pleasure to be addressing you all! My men and I ( Read more... )

Interesting.

Please, tell me more of both your fees and your charges.

We are not interested in any permanent arrangements, but are taking short-term contracts for individual battles and campaigns. Let us say, two hundred Crowns for a single engagement.

That's pretty expensive. How do I know your forces are worth it?

We are but a thousand soldiers, but I would bet all I possess that each of my hard veterans are worth a thousand of the sad peasant militia crawling across this land. Our might is sufficient to strike down any who oppose us!

Haha, but I cannot very well expect you to simply take my word for all that, now can I? I shall tell you what! We have all been hungering for battle for so very long that I don't think any of us would begrudge you a free demonstration. A little something to make you and the rest of the kingdom sit up and take notice! How does that sound?

An inspiring speech, sir. Perhaps there is hope of rising again after all.

Why thank you, my dear Doktor! I think there's better than a hope of making a suitably triumphant return. Yes! I would go so far as to say that this lovely war places us on the brink of our great success! The success we should have had, so long ago! Ah, it makes me giddy just to think of it!

Very good, sir.

I will begin preparations immediately. A general and his war needs an army, after all.

Quite true! And they are both in the best of hands with you around.

I have never seen what pleasure there is to be gained from death and bloodshed.

Really now? How unfortunate. Let me tell you, you're really missing out! The symphony of war, the glory of fierce struggle- these things are among the most beautiful in all of creation. I think it's just too bad that you feel that way during times such as these- times that seem to have been made for people like me.

Times like these are not made for anyone. Rather, it is people like you who make times like these. It is because of powerful people who love battle that this land is being ground into dirt by the boot heels of marching armies.

'People like me', hm? Well then, since this current war is taking place at the request of Emperor Rokujo, I suppose I shall take that as a compliment! To be compared to such a great warrior and leader. You flatter me, sir!

I'm definitely interested in the flames of battle.

Well hello then, Hell Raven Utsuho Reiuji! I take it that you too are taking part in this conflict the Emperor has instigated?

I like the way you present yourself.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mazane Enma.

The leader of Clan Enma? Your reputation and that of your faction precedes you! I've always been quite a fan of your way of doing things, you know. It is a pleasure!

I'm glad we see things eye to eye. I like it when a man understands and embraces the true nature of war.

I'm unaware of your reputation, but I believe in... 'meritocracy,' if you get what I mean.

Do you now? What a lovely coincidence then! My organization is going to carry out a little exhibition very shortly, to prove our merit to all the land! I hope that you will be suitably impressed.
