Ficlet: Zeitgeist (Zoisite)

Aug 28, 2010 20:07

Zeitgeist, A/Z, supposed to be SilMil or CT, for elvisvf101 .
Word count: 1064
Written as part of the ABC meme. Not as polished as I'd like it to be, but there's food, a movie, and Lyttonboy waiting for me.

I knew it. I KNEW it. I knew when I asked for something Lytton to read I'd get bittersweet.

I am genuinely in a state of emotional turmoil because of this. He's happy, he has a family, everything is great, but it's not because he remembers and he has to hide. But it's ok because he's happy. But Endy is incomplete (and possibly Mercury...although she's probably happier not knowing he exists than if she had...and maybe she would have turned him away if he'd tried -> would not fall for a goddess that could never really be his...maybe they would have been happy together... we'll never know...yarg ( ... )

I knew it. I KNEW it. I knew when I asked for something Lytton to read I'd get bittersweet. I went back to the ABC meme for prompts, and because I really adore this Jesse Spencer pic and his goofy smile, it turned out to be a Zoisite drabble. And then I looked at the prompts, and they really lent themeselves to bittersweet.

I am genuinely in a state of emotional turmoil because of this. He's happy, he has a family, everything is great, but it's not because he remembers and he has to hide. But it's ok because he's happy.
He is, but he is also forever torn. He is torn between what could be, and what is, and just because he doesn't give the what could have been a try, doesn't mean he doesn't wonder about it again and again, only to always come to the same decision eventually. But he has a good life. My attempt to make up for the disembowelment.

This is so good. It's all about the 'wat ifs' but from the other side. Usually they go back to Endy and contemplate what would life have been like if they hadn't... Gosh, Lytton, this is so so ( ... )

I have nothing to add to what CC wrote.

But... oh... hurt and so good at the same time.

Not sure this can fully qualify as A/Z though.

But aw!

I know, it's very, very borderline A/Z. But my muse wouldn't have it any other way, and I have to bow to her, or else she'll flee again. Glad you liked it anyway! :)

Hiya Mercury,

nice to meet you. Please don't drown your kids, okay? I like kids happy and alive. As for the ficathon: we shall not speak of it. Freaking out is occuring on MY part because the ficathon word doc is still empty, so we SHALL NOT SPEAK OF IT. Tell V that there is some happy doggie fluff in the imminent future, and also that her compliments make me blush. Good thing red cheeks suit me because I doubt the colour is going away anytime soon. Could you also tell the blubbering mess on the floor that a sequel to this was written and posted before breakfast today?

Best,

Lytton

OMG! Happy and sad at the same time here. I'm happy that he's happy with the life that he has chosen, but oh my goodness ... poor Mercury and Endymion :( They can't ever be complete and happy and well .... I just want you to know that I absolutely love this!!! It's so very good and it's an idea that I've never ever thought about before. I completely agree with everything that CC said. ^_____^ I love reading anything you write.

Thank you, Jen!
I really enjoyed writing this, playing out this what-if scenario was a lot of fun. Sad fun, but fun. :)

OH SHI-

ok, I'm reading your fictional universe backwards. But it doesn't matter. It's worth it all the same. And I'm writhing in delicious bittersweet pain. *noisily wiping leaky eyes and nose*

is the timestealing charm a HP ref of sort?

Also... V's comment as usual crack me up. But Now I'm horrified at the thought of Mr. 'Filler' Ryo in Ami's life. *rushes to the bathtub to save the children*
