some great individual lines in this, and the whole leaves you feeling so empty...lytton, i can't say i'd mind if we extended april just a wee bit longer :P
He truly was Endymion the Great. Great in his love, great in his foolishness. the second scene with endymion on the floor just killed me, it flowed like poetry, and like courtney - i LOVE that hint of pluto/endymion we see there. what a genius idea, to link their characters in their loneliness.
He wanted Motoki to be happy, and Makoto too, of course he did. He just wanted not to lose his friend either. ;____; and THIS. knowing everything that came before it gives this scene amazing pathos. poor mamoru, and poor setsuna - bearing the burden of that knowledge. hard to know what's worse.
The shitennou had been his to command and by the laws of ancient magic, his to perish. ooh, plotty. i adore this idea
( ... )
So he loved them still, his men, his traitors, his murderers. He truly was Endymion the Great. Great in his love, great in his foolishness.
This line. oh my god. what is this. Why does he have to suffer so much.
And ugh the contrast with Minako and Makoto kind of gives you a little hope.. but nope. The girls are happy-ish but not Mamoru.
My poor angsty orphan boy Mamoru who clings so desperately to the normalcy that is Motoki. Mamo has all the feels but at the same time he's too emotionally inexperienced to know what these feels mean. Not knowing hurts more than forgetting. Oh god, how does one bear the constant confusion. And then the guilt at not being able to be happy for your loved ones.
My UsaMamo heart is hurting. And Setsuna knowing all this. Oh god. How does this woman not cry? How does she knowingly let this happen to him.
If only Usagi knew..
And you, Lytton, HOW DO YOU THINK OF THESE SCENARIOS.
I want to hug your comment and gradle it to my chest.
How Setsuna doesn't cry? Living with it for YEARS. It's not that she's numb, not exactly, but knowing what has been, what could have been, and what will be and being alone with this kind of knowledge and never ever being allowed to interfere is who she is. The poor woman.
And Mamoru... I think you hit the nail on the head when you called him "emotionally inexperienced" because he is. He knows what love is because he has Usagi, but if it weren't for her, he'd probably think being lonely and sad and miserable was perfectly normal.

THIS HURT. I seriously think it might be the single most angst-ridden piece I've ridden for this year's AA.
