My views on Israel, and the problem in Gaza

I wish to start by making two statements:

1) It is the first duty of a state to protect its citizens in any way it sees fit.
2) Israel is no exception to the above rule.

I always feel the need to clarify this when beginning this argument, to avoid any possible accusations that I do not believe Israel should put the lives of its citizens first. I think

I dont believe Israel owes any assitance to Gaza, because the people of Gaza refuse to recognise Israel as a legitimate state i.e. They consider Israel to be the enemy, and this is despite that Israel geve them their independance.
