“Martin isn’t coming home, Emily. You have to let him go.” Emily is sitting on the couch, staring at her shoes. She’s waiting for her well intentioned cousins to leave. Her feet scrape against the carpet, wearing treads into its patterns.

Their on the prowl, looking for weakness, but Emily is far away now.
This sentence felt a little out of place and didn’t make a whole lot of sense. I think you meant, “They’re on the prowl.”

You’re creating a nice feeling of a downward spiral. It should be interesting to see how we get from this point (the past, I assume) to the “The Places You Go.”
