((OOC: This was actually my introductory paragraph of the application, so feel free to ignore this post if you'd like. I'm more posting it for my own entertainment then anything else. My first actual post will be posted right after this. ^_^))

Cradling her pug puppy in her arms, Ai followed her mother up the stairs to their new home. She wasn't feeling like her usual self yet, and it bothered her. Moving here from Kyoto had to be one of the hardest things for Ai to do, but she understood how much her father's promotion meant to the family. Opening the door to the three bed, one bath apartment, her mother ushered her inside.

The apartment was neither excessively small or large, but was enough for her family to enjoy happily. Slipping off her colorful Chucks, she ventured further in, the pug puppy, Momo, still cuddled into her chest. From where she stood, she could see the small, cleanly kitchen, the kotasu in the 'dining' room, a sliding door leading out to the balcony, and a hall leading to what she presumed to be the bedrooms. Stepping between the many boxes yet to be unpacked, she made her way to and down the hall. With the four doors wide open, she could indentify the two rooms on her right to be first, the toilet and bath, and then the spare bedroom that her mother would later turn into mini-studio. On her left, she saw first her parent's room, and then her own. Again, stepping between boxes, she followed the maze to her room.

It was all white. In fact, it was nothing but bare whiteness. Ai cringed, beginning to feel uncomfortable.

"How about we paint these dull walls before your first day? We have all winter break," her mother, Reiko, suggested, coming to stand behind her daughter. Ai nodded in silent agreement as Reiko wrapped her arms around Ai's shoulders and planted a motherly kiss a top her bright pink head.

"That's right," Ai heard her father, Senichi, smile as he joined her and her mother. "We have all of winter break to make our new home officially the Kohara's," he finished, patting her head lovingly. Ai nodded again, but continued to stare critically at the bare white walls of her new room, feeling horribly homesick. She missed Kyoto, her grandmother, and Junpei already so much.

"I hope the kids at Gakuin are nice," she commented softly.

"I'm sure they are, baby," her mother assured her. "Now, where's that smile I know only my Ai can shine, hm?" With her mother's request, Ai turned to her and flashed her a bright eyed smile. "There's my girl. Now, let's put this place together, shall we?"

"Hai~!" Ai cheered, laughing, as she set Momo on his feet to explore on his own, and began to help her mother and father unpack the boxes and put things where they belonged. She was feeling a little better about the situation. She really did hope that her fellow students at Gakuin were nice, though.
