WOw! This is amazing. The last paragraph especially. That's exactly how I envision them. Exactly.

Great fic.

Thank you! That was quite a finale, wasn't it? Really stirred up the creative juices they way they left Sawyer and Juliet. I am really glad this worked for you. Thanks for reading!

As a forever Sawyer fan, and an early shipper of Juliet/Sawyer in my heart-of-hearts, I must say that I think this fic is flawless. The selfless sacrifice Sawyer made so that his fellow survivors could escape still brings tears to my eyes, as does the image of Juliet, resigned to despair and ever-after on the island. You've finessed this fic just right. It is wonderful.

Wow, thank you! That is an enormous compliment. I confess that I can scarcely write anything if it does not include Sawyer in some way. He is without a doubt my favorite character, and my love of him was further cemented by the fact that he sacrificed himself in order to save his friends. And Juliet. Seeing her so happy about the rescue with Dan and then finding her drowning her sorrows on the beach watching what she thinks is the funeral pyre for her friends... absolutely heartbreaking! I could not help but be inspired.

Thank you so much for reading and for your wonderful comment!

they clung to one another and cursed their final act of selflessness
Hadn't thought of it that way, that each of them is still on the island because of a selfless act, but you're absolutely right.

Sad but beautiful, the vision of them toasting their misery, and the ending is so bleak (*whimper*). Lovely work.

I imagine the writers will give us a much happier ending than this, but the image of Sawyer and Juliet drowning their sorrows in the shadow of the billowing smoke that means (so they think) the death of their friends and the loss of their way home seemed so absolutely bleak and hopeless to me! Thank you for reading! I am glad this worked for you.

Wow...just...wow. That was powerful and moving and painful and perfect. I keep trying to pick my favorite part, but it started off strong and carried through right until the hear-breaking end. Lovely job.

Oh, i love this, especially this line:

It was not until later that he realized the entire island was a tomb.

Just so haunting.
