'Tsubasa's was complete mess, xxxHOLiC's was eyerollingly stupid and now Kobato's is rushed and emotionless'

You've basically summed up all those endings in a nutshell. I've given up on CLAMP by this point.

She really does. She just needs an editor to tell her to stop biting off more than she can chew plotwise, to point out where things are dragging, and inform her of when she, frankly, is screwing up an ending.

And yeah, I have been deciding whether to drop the ever more disapointing Gate 7 recently. This ending has provided all the confirmation I needed. Because it's now quite apparent that one thing I can't expect from Gate 7 is a decent conclusion.

But I can't... It was so great, I can't help feeling super disappointed now OTL
We went through many really sad moments hoping that in the end things would work out and we'd share their happiness... and in the end things DID work out, but I can't share any kind of happiness because I find it poorly written and I don't like the idea, so I feel a bit "betrayed" ( . - . ;;;;

I know, Inma T_T It's completely reasonable to feel that way...I was trying to cheer up myself a bit thinking of nice Kobato moments ;w;...but yes, in the end that doesn't take away from how disappointing the ending is. I think all the series I was a super fan of have ended or are ending now, so it's very very sad to see this one go like this...in a very unfair way. Trying to be a bit optimistic....let us hope we can move on from it soon ;_;

I just personally found Kobato's ending predictable, cliche and sappy. The whole 'reborn and meet again scenario' has been used too many times already. And yes, the rushed, emotionless love declaration was also a huge let down :( . It wasn't as bad as XXXHolic or Tsubasa's ending, which is something atleast, and it was a happy ending which I guess is a good thing, but it certainly could have been better. I've kind of given up on CLAMP's endings by this point :( . And if their future series continue to go on like Gate 7, I think I'll give up on their mangas too :( . I'm really starting to fear they have lost their touch.

And sorry for randomly commenting, but it's nice to see someone else who was also disapointed by the ending.

So far xxxHolic's ending is the most awful one, in my opinion. Still, Kobato's was so disappointing and poorly written... I was expecting more from a love confession by Fujimoto, but he looked so empty and his confession so fast and random @A@

Yeah, it would have had much more impact if Fujimoto had confessed shortly before Kobato's death - then there would have been much more emotional investment, and it would have made Kobato's death 3x as sad, and her and Fujimoto's reuinion 5x more emotional and touching.

And I agree about XXXHolic being their worst ending. It was such a massive anticlimax, and, like Kobato's ending, compltely emotionless. I'm personally (like a lot of other people) trying to un-acknowledge it as canon :( .

One of the thing I longed for in Kobato was the moment Fujimoto finally calls her by her name. It would have been great if he calls for her in the last second but not knowing why, for example. It would have had so much more emotion. Instead, he has a "gone" expression while confessing, erasing all the magic to the moment for me. He ends looking emotionless, almost a puppet of Ginsei's wish =/ Also, if we where to have a time jump, I wanted to see the grown-up Toshihiko ;___;

As you said, is too rushed. It could have been so much better. I'm not trusting CLAMP's endings anymore.
