So, one of the notifications I received today was 'LJ_top15_noncyr reposted your entry The First Post'.

How annoying! It sounds like it has something to do with the "user rating" that's listed on the top right corner of your profile. I would get rid of it.

You can also disable the Ratings feature for your account completely. To do this, go to the Privacy tab on the Account Settings page and disactivate the checkbox «This account participates in the Ratings feature. If activated, popular public entries may appear on the LJ homepage.».

Thank you, Casey - that's super-helpful! I've followed the instructions you've kindly provided and feel a lot more informed and secure about posting publicly. Thank you so much.

When you have a moment, could you remind me, please, of the code we need to put in to break up the post, so it doesn't all appear on the front page? Particularly useful when posting photographs or longer posts.

Thanks again! :-)

You're very welcome! I'm glad that the info helped.

I'll have to link you to the info on LJ cuts, because I can't seem to make it show in the comment.

Rude and scary. I hope you were able to disable the feature causing that.

I know, right? Yes thanks, Addie - I have successfully disabled that feature, thanks to Casey28's advice. Hope that's an end to these 'little surprises' :-)
