(*o*) not exactly what i expected but ♥ awwwww ♥ you did break my heart again ;_; There was time for all that though, time for all the thoughts he hadn’t realised he’d harboured until they were no longer possibilities; for a cottage on the edge of the estate and a quiet marriage on a Sunday afternoon. First things first however, he was going to take a room above the inn, see Elsie to bed and send a note up to the house to say that he wouldn’t be back for lunch. ♥♥♥ (*-*)
Well I'm glad you enjoyed it - I hadn't really intended it to be any more than a one shot when I started but sometimes these thing just grow arms and legs :)
Poor baby! This was so sad. For a moment I really thought I'd read it wrong and she had died. I'm glad she didn't,, of course, but my heart is still in pain. You've wonderfully managed to convey all Elsie's sorrow and hurt. I'm so happy Charles was there for her. And for once I'm grateful Lady Violet meddled with them. She's an old bat, but she has a good heart and good intentions, after all. I also loved Carson/Bates' friendship and the bit with Anna. She really seems to have learnt her job from the best. That was a great description of her attitude. I'm looking forward to reading more of this!
Good on Lady Violet! She may be an interfering old bat, but she thinks of all the people of Downton as her responsibility, and I think of all the upstairs women she's the one who could put herself in another's place most easily, though she'd never admit to it.
Yes, I think in her own way she's by far the most practical of them. And she's going to behave however she pleases no matter what anyone else thinks which is a good get out clause in these scenarios :)
Flipping eck!!! To start with I thought Elsie had died, then I realised I'd mis-read it! So sad for the loss of the little boy, I loved the scene in the last episode where she was holding him. ut glad hr knight in shiny-polished shoes has arrived - love the idea of them being in the inn..... x
Oh Lord, for a short moment I thought you had forgotten an "s" and she was dead, passed away before he could say goodbye. I'm glad that you did not forget it. Of course it's sad that the child died but I'm happy that Charles was there for here and destroying her doubts that she was the reason for losing him. It's so nice to see how the situation will get better now with Clarkson offering her a job and Charles there to take care of her. Dear sweet men.
And jay!! I love Violet for meddling with Charles' head like that. Simply telling him Elsie's at the hospital and making him finally overcome his worry about seeing her. I love that woman.
She is rather fun - I'd totally hit a block until she came to mind :) And Charles will no doubt be there to help build her back up to her former self...
Lady Violet to the rescue. I love how she seems to know everything about everyone and uses it to help them. ^^ Because that's what he does. Such a dear, sweet man.
