As far as shielding and such, I learned early on they weren't as effective as being open and working what gets sent to my benefit.

I find that if I emphasize shielding, it seems there is more and more to shield from ( the ol' that which you attempt to deflect you start to attract because of the focus), however there are times it is 'acutely' appropriate. I do have wards around our home that I check on regularly. In part because I live in an area that is highly charged with ghosts and the like, so it helps myself and children to rest better at night without astral disturbance.
Radiating Divine presence from my core through and outward is a highly effective personal 'ward'. It varies how I do this and with Whom, which cultivates wonderful relationships as well.
Great topic!

I've been taking Lavendar baths each night in an attempt to wash away the fear and shame I've been feeling as a result of divorce. (while in the bath, I loudly sing chants in an effort to remind me of love and power)
I like the penny sugggestion anatketani shared above!

I'm a huge fan of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap in the shower (along with a salt rubdown if it's been one of those days). The penny thing sounds like a good idea as well -- and pretty easy to do with roommates.

And I use Chandrika ayurvedic soap to wash stuff that has attached itself durimg the day off in the evening. When I feel really dirtied by stuff from outside myself, I wash it off in the shower or with one of Draja Micaharics baths.
