Happy Holidays everyone~♥ I hope everybody is enjoying themselves and their various gifts, including whatever they received from yesterday's Secret Santa gift exchange~ Of which I can personally say I am both happy and a bit troubled by. While the gift I received was wonderful, I found myself somewhat unsure if the gift I initially offered was ( Read more... )

Hello, yes. Someone called for a Christmas grouch?

I don't believe you can label yourself specifically as a *Christmas* grouch when you are grouchy 24/7.

Yes, but this is a grouchiness especially reserved for the winter holidays.

Oh? And what's so especially festive about your grouchiness to make you a Christmas grouch then?

Very much so, yes~♥ How did you happen to come into possession of such lovely trinkets? You've obviously had them for quite a while as well, as I've calculated that the ornaments are at least 70 years old based on their design and composition. They don't make them like these anymore.

How? I think it was the winter of 1942... We'd been barely holding on to Guadalcanal for the last six months. We were pretty ragged and homesick. Then the Red Cross came in with some care packages. A little hope at Christmas time. I'm glad I can pass this hope on to another.

While that sounds like a wonderful moment to have happen, don't you think you should save these for someone who's...I don't know, a bit more important to you? Especially when it's got such memories connected to it. I'm just another of your students. I shouldn't be the one holding on to treasures of yours like this.

You are very fortunate. I seem to be the proud recipient of half of a pack of chewing gum. However, I am happy to share. Care for a piece?

Who on Earth gives gum as a Christmas gift? Much less a used pack of it? It seems someone must've obviously been feeling lazy and cheap. Really, why even bother agreeing to join in on the gift exchange if you're not going to actually put any effort into it? It's not like it was mandatory.
But I suppose it's best to make use of what you do receive nonetheless. So yes, I'll be happy to take a piece. So long as it's not that joke type of gum that turns your mouth black or anything like that. Walking around with a black tongue will hardly make me feel like much in the Christmas spirit.

It seems to be just gum. The type Zaizen chews.

I gave a lovely pair of brand new yoga pants. They're quite comfortable and stretchy.

I'll pop over and we can share the gum.
