It seems one of the few things that makes me happy (well, less depressed) these days is cooking. Other things include:

  • Creating my own Jelly Belly jelly bean mix at Super Target

  • New, cute clothes (always, always happy about this)

  • My red down throw + good book + coffee + MPR on radio

Aaanyway, I'm sort of down these ( Read more... )

Ok, so. Do you think the depression is related to birth control/hormones/PMS, job stuff, less sunlight, crappy weather, some of the above, all of the above?

I wish I couldn't relate so well to what you're talking about, but unfortunately I've dealt with depression for almost half of my life now. Yikes, when I put it that way, that's REALLY depressing!

Curling up with a good book under a warm blanket and having tea or coffee always makes me feel better, too :)

I think definitely all of the above. I guess I wouldn't call it DEPRESSION, because to me that involves more than just three days of awful moods. When I was depressed, I barely left my bedroom for days at a time and pretty much just tried to forget that I existed.

Even though I've been in a bad mood this week, I've been out and about and getting stuff done and going to interviews, so. I don't think I'm that far in the Bell Jar just yet.

In my way of thinking "depressed" is different from "depression," which is confusing when I write about it in lj.

Anyway, thanks for asking me about it. It's nice to know that people care. :)

my two cents.. snowmans_chance September 23 2006, 05:25:52 UTC
you know i have experience with this. not the pms part, but the guilt, oh the guilt. i totally relate. its why i never talk to anyone. ever.

all i can say from where i sit, is that if you are really, truly concerned about how they feel, then take care of yourself first. that will, in turn, help those you care about to not feel the hurt. people will be concerned if youre feeling down. thats natural. they only want you to feel better. they just have no way to help you. you can just take care of yourself, have some tea/coffee, read, cuddle up and just let time take the troubles away. you know it'll pass. they know itll pass.

point: the best you can do to make them feel better, is to let yourself feel better.

i hope this helps. i just know how some of this feels, and i hope it helps.

hang in there...
