Loooooong Picture-Heavy Wedding Update Post!

Oct 05, 2009 13:52

Well, last week was the week from hell. We had the auditors in our office nearly all week for the annual federal audit (always fun...) and in the midst of it all I had a day-long foster care training to attend. Ugh. So now, this week, the auditors are done with us for the time being, and I have to try and catch up on everything I fell behind on ( Read more... )

I have nothing really to say to all this except that it makes me excited in a way wedding posts usually don't. :D I think it's brillant to get stuff at Walmart. Why pay ten times as much for something only moderately different looking? Especially when you're customizing it so much anyway! Saving money on things like that is a good thing! :D

I love the wishing rock guest book idea, BTW!

Thank you! Yeah, we ended up buying some wedding bubbles (they're in rainbow colored bottles!) at Walmart too, because -- well, weddings cost so much, why wouldn't you save money where you can if they have what you're looking for?

We found river rocks (also at Walmart) for $4. FOUR DOLLARS. You just can't beat that...

You are a darling. You think of everything! Please do let me know if you'd like me to send you some money for these, I know they've got to be expensive. ♥

I really liked the stone-guestbook when I first saw the idea... I'm much more into decorating my house with something pretty as opposed to making this satin-bound book that will sit on a shelf for the rest of my life. :P I saw some folks do this really cool abstract painting, too, where they drew a basic design, divided it into squares and asked each guest to paint a square -- and when it was done they had the coolest piece of art to hang in their house! But I didn't much like the idea of having my guests in their fancy clothes trying to work with paint. :P So, stones it is!!

Ooh la la I must say the river rock idea is amazing and really creative. Everything is coming together and it looks and sounds amazing. I can't wait.

I thought it was such a great idea ... Even if I'm not always good at coming up with this stuff myself, at least I'm handy with an internet search engine! >D

Thank you! I think they'll work nicely, and the whole pack of them was only like $20 -- much more reasonable than some of those custom things that are $10 PER INVITE. X.x

I wish I could see your beautiful wedding. I live too far away. It's going to be so lovely and you both are so perfect for each other.

There better be tons of photos after! ^_^

You must tell me where you register for gifts. Minerba and I want to get you something.

Aw, you're so sweet! ♥ We'll definitely have tons of pictures to post afterwards (and probably before, too!!)

Hehe, we haven't even thought much about a gift registry yet... we're kind of nontraditional so the typical small kitchen appliances / linens and tableware wedding gifts aren't really high on our wish list. We want things like... tile, and grout, and new high-water-efficiency toilets. >D I think we might be requesting gift cards to some of our most oft-frequented stores in lieu of traditional gifts, as it might be kind of hard for someone to lug a toilet to a wedding. (Though I wouldn't put it past one of my brothers, who would very likely find that hilarious... >D)
