If I were to read Lord of the Rings, I think I'd need to like.. Make a chart of all the characters and mythical beings and whatnot, as to not get confused.
My main motives for reading the series are 1. I think it will have good fanfiction, 2. I bet the movies would be really fun to drink to, and 3. The universe seems so fucking detailed, I NEED to be a part of it.

It was, oh, it was so much effort that I put into the book. Tolkien, I don't even know where he was when he wrote all of that...
