There he stood, dressed in a regal white get up with dangling pins and golden cord, and some kind of frilly piece of fabric tucked in under his neck. It was the epitome of fairy tale prince outfits, and he was stuck in it, looking terribly uncomfortable as he scratched just below his shoulder. There was even a crown on his head! Kazuki perked up when someone entered the room, smiling happily in hopes it might be a beautiful princess to his prince costume, or someone with something to eat.

Admittedly, Amelia was much more used to this sort of setup than most. Being a princess at home meant she was fairly comfortable in this scenario, so the dress wasn't an issue, since she wore similar attire often enough.

So yes, one of Kazuki's hopes had come to fruition at least. Needless to say, Amelia was rather surprised to see someone else dressed so regally inside the room.

"Ah, sorry, I hope I'm not disturbing you." she apologised.

Kazuki was most comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans, or shorts, or anything that wasn't making him itch all over. He scratched a little more t the front of his outfit, accidentally knocking off one of the medals he wore. He knelt down to pick it up, which was of course the moment Amelia stepped in.

Down on one knee, he looked up to her and began to blush, fumbling to pick up the shiny. "You're not disturbing me at all!"

Watching him with interest, the girl offered a small, kind smile, before approaching him. Thankfully all those years of etiquette training meant she didn't struggle to in walking, even with the heavy skirts of the dress nearly trailing to the floor.

Once she had stopped in front of him, she offered the male a hand to stand up. Luckily for Kazuki, she didn't appear to notice any signs of blushing at the moment. "Here, let me help you there."

Whoever arranged his attire would need to have a little talk because medals shouldn't fall off like that. Kazuki tried to pin it back on but it was crooked. At least the rest looked dignified, except maybe his hair, and that dopey grin on his face.

He took her offered hand and stood up, which put him just barely over her height. "Thank you. I didn't think those would fall off so easily!"

Regardless of the grin or his hair, she still thought he looked quite dashing in the outfit. She had known other royalty at home, but often they could be rather uptight. The fact he was so at ease and relaxed was rather refreshing.

Shaking her head a little as she helped him stand, she smiled at him kindly. "They can be tricky if you're not used to adorning them. Here, let me see." she replied, hand letting go of his so she could use both to adjust the medal, setting it firmly in place. "There, that should do it."

Kazuki could pretend to be stuck up but he didn't like doing that. What he knew of Amelia, she was a nice girl who wasn't always stable on her feet, but there was something else about a redhead involved when that happened. It didn't matter, they were all alone, so any faux pas on either of their parts wouldn't be a problem!

He let her pin the medal back on and smiled proudly. That one was for fencing. Kazuki watched her, and reached up to touch the medal, brushing her hand along the way. "You're not like I thought you'd be," he remarked, grinning. "You're really nice Amelia."

A lot of Amelia's issues often revolved around a redheaded sorceress, and yet they were still friends despite everything. Her clumsiness at times also could be blamed on her being overly eager in her proclamations of justice wherever she went. It was just lucky that she was so used to the formal attire that she was able to keep steady, despite the long skirts and heels.

She barely caught a glance at the inscription on the medal before looking back up at Kazuki, blinking and tilting her head in surprise at him. Her face pinkened a little as their hands touched, but she didn't shy away from him. "And what exactly did you think I'd be like?" she asked curiously.

Kazuki knew someone like that. A hot-headed, fire wielding elf who kind of scared him sometimes. To him she was always nice, and he may have had a little thing for her but she had to keep hidden because the people of his kingdom had no idea there were any elves left.

The prince looked uncomfortable in his clothes, because while he was used to wearing it, this was a newly fashioned top and the material was kind of itchy. All those medals didn't help either. Before he realized it, he'd turned his hand around to let hers slip into it. "I thought you'd be kind of selfish and not interested in me," he said, pink spreading out in his cheeks. "I've met some unfriendly princesses in the past, so I'm glad I was wrong!"

Despite herself, Amelia could feel her face heat up a little more, though the smile didn't leave her face. She just had to regain a bit of composure before responding, returning the hold of his hand as their fingers laced together. It was rather odd; she was very much used to her gowns, and yet for some reason standing there listening to him made the bodice of the dress feel uncomfortably restrictive.

"Well, I suppose I can understand that, and I'm pleased I disproved that expectation." she laughed a little, her free hand toying with the material of her skirt. "Still, I don't see how anyone couldn't find you pleasant."

Kazuki wasn't sure what he was feeling, but it wasn't bad at all. He didn't realize he was blushing when her fingers laced with his, and he stepped slightly closer to the princess. She was a lot prettier than he thought she'd be, too! Some of the others he'd met were not ugly but their sneering looks made them look unattractive to him.

"I think they found me too unrefined. I understand protocol and all that stuff, but I don't see why I have to be proper all the time when it isn't needed," he explained, tilting his head. "Like right now, we're getting along well! And all because a medal fell off my shirt."

If she had been aware of what he was thinking, her face would have no doubt gone a shade redder. Still, at least she wasn't the only one flustered. Clearly they were both feeling a little awkward, but nonetheless comfortable around each other.

"Well, my belief is as long as you have the heart to rule well, not much else matters." she replied. After all she couldn't judge too much on being proper. Not many princess' had spent a good number of years running around fighting villains; she was hardly what people expected of her.

Glancing back at the medals, she studied them a bit more carefully, before looking back at Kazuki. "You certainly have a number of achievements to be proud of, even if it's a bit trying to keep them pinned in place."

His ideal woman was someone who was kind, gentle, outgoing and didn't want to hit him. The last part was important because even though he was a prince he still got hit sometimes, usually when he was out pretending not to be a prince. He couldn't hold a sword very well, and his social skills were lacking, but he had a good sense of reasoning and his magic was getting stronger every day ( ... )

Amelia empathized with that; she rarely pulled rank on people, and often didn't like revealing her status unless absolutely necessary...or when her friends needed her to foot some of their bills, much to her annoyance at times. She didn't wish to receive special treatment, as was fortunate her companions on her travels didn't think of her differently because of her position ( ... )

Kazuki's family didn't condone his escapades into the world, but he refused to sit idly behind the castle walls all day. What kind of leader didn't know what his people were like, what they wanted, how they lived and most importantly, what they thought of their community. He never had traveling companions, and usually traded services to get his meals. He was much more adept at doing laundry and cleaning than he was at tasks involving heavy lifting.

"I don't remember earning this one at all, and there's nothing written on it, so I don't mind at all!" He removed the medallion from his chest and held it out to her, his cheeks growing darker. When she kissed his cheek, he started to blush even more as his heart beat quicker. Before he knew it, he was reaching out to pin the medal on her chest.

It seemed more and more bizarre that the two heirs were raised so differently, and yet agreed with each other to such a degree. Amelia was encouraged by her father to go out and do good in the world, and as such, he had taught her how to fight from when she was very young. Domestic chores were managable to her, but her real skills lay not only in magic, but hand to hand combat. Needless to say, she was a rarely a damsel in distress.

It was only as she drew back that she felt the medal being pinned to the front of her dress. Her own blush darkened a bit considering where his hand was, but didn't protest. Touching the medallion once it was on her, she looked back up at him with a warm smile. "Well, thank you for that. Now I'll have to think of something I can give you in return." she spoke softly, though clearly insistant, trying to think of something while also leaving room for him to make a request if anything came to mind.
