I always find it more interesting when the CPS don't win a case. It adds an extra dimension, I feel.

I love the fact that Alesha got to step up and do some of the questioning of witnesses in court. I hope they return to that in the not-too-distant future, otherwise it will just look like a sympathy vote from James.

I thought it was interesting that Matt's still fairly idealistic about his fellow officers - not wanting to believe even for a second that Ray might have left Nick to die.

I reiterate my original squee. That Ronnie was amazing. He could have delivered his strand of the story with a sense of underlying rage against bent coppers, but it was just so much better the way he did it.

Yay for continuing the Alesha storyline, I liked that they showed how her collegues were handling the situation. I too hope we get to see her in court some more. She seems capable of it.

My favourite moment of the show was Matt asking Alesha out for a drink and trying to be nice, it was just so sweet and awkward and I think it was played note perfect by both JB and FA.

I also loved Matt's optimism and the journey that he went on from not wanting to believe that one of their own could do such a thing to anger to determined to pin it on him.

It felt nicely weighted. And Kudos to Bradley Walsh because I would never have rated him as an actor in the past but in Law & Order he has found his niche.

I was going to repeat a comment on this from another thread but I realized it referred to another episode which, technically *cough* hasn't aired yet ;)

First off I want to say it's great having the show back :-)

Man of the match this week was Ronnie, I never thought I'd be saying this but great performance this week from Bradders.

Jamie was great, you really could feel the gamut of emotions from Matt as he went from complete disbelief that one copper could leave another to die and then when reality dawned, the steely determination to nail them.

I loved his scene with Alesha when he awkwardly tried to offer her his support. It was played perfectly by both of them.

Something did confuse me though, at the start of that scene Matt says to Alesha after he's spoken to Natalie on the phone - "It's like having two mums". I thought Matt's mum was dead?

I like that the CPS lossed, it's always interesting to see how they handle it.

Two possible answers to that:

A) You could definitely infer from the conversation with the young Irish prostitute in Ep. 1.3 that his mum is dead, tho it's never explicitly stated. Still, it seemed pretty likely, so he may have just been speaking to Alesha in the broader sense of "Natalie looks after us like a mum sometimes."

B) The writers frakked up. ;)

Thanks for this - I think it's been a case of the writers frakking up.
