We just received a return text message from Poppy. She says, "we are ok, just a little windy." Through everything, these guys never lose their sense of humor. She and Chris are New Orleans to the core. It is people like these who make me proud to be a New Orleanian.

I'm sure they are not having fun, but I doubt if they at all regret their decision

Let's hold off on that collective sigh of relief till we see how the levees are holding tomorrow.

It is not unusual for these breaches to happen the next day.

But this is most definitely nothing like the 2005 storm. I am very hopeful.

The people of Birmingham are awesome. We got treated to dinner at Califormia Pizza Kitchen last night by a woman we met in Target, and we got extra-special attention at Cracker Barrel this afternoon for being evacuees. I bought a 'Bama tote bag to commemorate the experience. :-)

I know we're not out of the woods yet, and I wish we could get some straight answers about when we can come back. Worse comes to worse at this point, I'll head to Baton Rouge for a few days. D. rescheduled her flight for Thursday.

Glad to hear you're being treated well in Birmingham. I think we're just being barely tolerated here in McComb, but there are an awful lot of us in such a small town :)

It's not too unreasonable to not have a firm answers about re-entry just yet. The floods tend to happen a day or two after the storm passes, so they are right to be cautious. However, I am hopeful they'll let us back Wednesday, though it will more likely be Thursday. I'm pretty sure Tuesday is off the table.

Sit back and relax awhile. We'll get there. Drink up! :)
