Oh dear...

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

I am, once again, struggling to write what is, at best, mediocre PWP fanfiction.  What was supposed to be a short, humorous companion piece to 'Lagniappe' from Spock's POV has grown to more than double it's intended length and has sprouted angsty little arms and legs.

I seem completely unable to be make any point ( Read more... )

Be not frustrated! I am more than certain that you have good reasons for the length (indeed, my interest is now even more picqued). As for Angst - it is a part of what this Spock seems to be, something I think you're right to include.

Taking a short break is always a good idea; focus on something else completely for a while, read or watch something funny, get out of your mind for a bit. You have a fantastic sense of wit than cannot have deserted you and shall soon return - in the moment you aren't looking for it perhaps, which is also perhaps the best time to write.

Oh dear, I'm not making much sense. But please be heartened - this happens to everyone, is a natural part of the process, and will, I believe, only make the story better in the end. :)

What would I do without you?!

As ever, thank you for you support and seemingly unfounded faith in me!! I may well send you the mess that is the rough draft of this story later...you have been warned!

Im TOS from years back...and while they will always be my preference, I loved the new movie precisely for the reasons you cite - the emotionalism of Spock and the change of McCoy and Scott - as you say, makes it a new universe, gives it a whole new charge and direction to the "known" story and I look forward to it. Even while mourning what I grew up with.

Also wanted to mention I love your writing, can't wait for the third story :).

Never saw Brockback (sic?) Mountain so am sticking to your excellent Trek stories for now - just keep it up, I find them to be "true to form" as well as completely FUN xx

As a new fan, the Star Trek universe/fandom is massive - there is so much to explore - I'm still discovering things, learning about the characters and their stories - and while TOS is still my favourite, too, I love the fact that, now, there are so many more possibilities out there for these characters I love. The canon is, itself, malleable - particularly as a fan (and writer) of fanfic, this is exciting.

Speaking of which, thank you so much for your lovely comments about my stories. I've had a bit of a crisis of confidence lately, so hearing that you like them, that they seem 'true', is wonderfully encouraging. I will try to post the third story soon :)
