Not really a stalker afterall...

So... after much thought, I decided to email the fan that had requested the picture of "El Gato". Turns out she is the mother of a boy who was "assaulted" during festival last year by a drunken patron. I do not recall specifically what the "assault" consisted of, but I think it had to do with him being grabbed around the neck. Be that as it may ( Read more... )

How are you liking your Prius? What kind of gas milage are you getting?

Every time gas prices go up, I like it a little more. :)

I think the interior could be a little more 'cushy', but it wouldn't make me not buy one, if I had known ahead of time. If a hybrid Camry was available at the time, I think I would have gotten that instead.

I do wish I had gotten the top option package. I didn't get it because I thought the price difference wasn't worth the nav system. I still don't really care about the nav system, but I do wish I had some of the other extras the top option package has like tinted windows, upgraded stereo system and the bluetooth integration with my cell phone.

If I take it easy and stick close to the speed limit, I get about 50mpg, a little less 45-48 when the weather is cold or very hot. I'd get better mileage if I didn't drive so many miles on the highway.

You're welcome to take it for a spin, if you like.

Better than mine (but the best milage I ever saw was when you drove it. 45 mpg. I comfort myself with two things: we had a tail wind and we were doing 55 most of the way. It doesn't help. :p ) But I think I have a handle one aspect - my milage (and it's correlation with the MPG meter) goes to hell after the first half of the tank. I am trying to fill up at half a tank now, and seeing quite the improvement.

I probably wouldn't mind taking it for a spin sometime. It will just make me jealous, though, I suspect. ;)

Yes, the post you made about the difference between the display mpg vs. the calculated mpg has made me start to keep track of both of them too. I find that the calculated mpg varies greatly from the display, but I think it is primarily due to the inner bladder on the Prius' gas tank. It doesn't always expand to the full capacity of the tank and therefore, I don't always get a full tank out of 'fill-up'.

It should average out in the long run, but I haven't been tracking it long enough to have enough data.

One of the tips that I got about maximizing fuel economy was to slightly overinflate the tires. They recommended 42psi front and 40psi rear. Of course, you'd need to check the specs on the tires that came with your Civic.

It's a part of being Royalty at faire, sometimes you can 'make something better' that neither management nor security could do anything about and that is to create a happy and long-lasting memory over an event that could have ruined their day.

That is, whether you can remember the individual incident or not, the most important job that the royals have out at faire, in my opinion. To make people, one at a time if necessary, feel good about themself, feel as if they've mattered for just a minute or two. That is more attention than some folks ever get in their whole lives, I'm sorry to say.

I've formed many a long-lasting relationship by so doing, by the way ...relationships that stood me in good stead later when I was the one needing support. Ask me sometime and I'll tell you about Bobby and her family, I posted about it but can't remember quite when. It's amazing stuff and very heady when it happens. And it's a whole lot nicer than having your costume pissed on by a small dog.

I know what you mean. There were so many times last year that you could just tell that we "made their day" when Yosa or I would take a moment to speak with certain patrons. And then there are the moments like the little girl who bolted away from her parents and leaped into my arms. (kids loved Yosa, but they were usually afraid of me)

I've trade a couple emails with this person now and it sounds like I've half recruited her for next year. So yeah, you never know what kind of dividends a little extra effort might yield.
