Hi Lou -- glad I finally found you here! So much easier for me to operate in LJ space.

Anyway -- yeah, this basically mirrors my own evolution. It's very different from, say, posting fiction on LJ or FP, where non-response really is considered snotty.

I do my own review of my books on GR -- not rating, but review. Just saying what it was like to write it, that sort of thing. I've found that readers who *do* want to contact me will sometimes comment there. That's kind of a nice consolation, because you also want to be open to your readers.

I'm also on blogger because LJ doesn't always like me.

It's true, in the realm of free and fan fiction, ignoring comments is rude. Of course, they come from readers, not from professional reviewers--not that they can't as much or even more thorough.

Writing your reflections on your own story--that's a cool idea. I might steal that.

I'm a reader. I read reviews to find new books. But I also subscribe to a lot of author pages, to keep up with news and new releases. I don't see posting about your good reviews as shamelessly self-promoting. I see it as information. You're allowed to be happy and even to gloat a bit, especially on your own web-site. There's no need to be shy; you need to promote yourself because it's a jungle out there and the readers have dull machetes.

Oh yeah, but then if you mention one review and not the other, it gets complicated. I rather stay away from the whole conundrum.
