[looks up on his way to town and sees part of a bed sticking out the window... what is even going on here, is he witnessing the world's slowest attempted murder of a bed-ridden hospital patient.

oh well whatever just gonna cup his hands around his mouth and shout up to the window]

You had better hurry, the police might take notice at this rate!

[well this would be a really nice opportunity to just scoot down the street and not look back, but he decides to wait as she had asked. no harm there, right?

he even makes things easier for her by ambling into the building and waiting near the front desk, pointedly ignoring any passing drone questions as to whether or not he was lost and where his parents were.]

[when she finally makes it downstairs, she's slightly out of breath, and slows down when she spots him.]

[he makes no move to go to her, but the smile is still carefully in place.]

You needn't have rushed, I'm not going anywhere. You didn't leave the mattress hanging from the window, did you?

It's stuck enough in there that it won't fall. [she crosses her arms over her chest.] Charles...

[ignores...] There are easier ways to get rid of a mattress. Shall I assume the patient is still on it?

He's not. But that doesn't really matter right now, you know.

Is that so? I don't see anything that might matter more right now.

[lotuslife]

[she looks hurt.] I know you're angry.

Wherever did you get that idea? What need have I for anger? [he moves a little closer to her and away from the desk, just a few steps]

[lotuslife]

[of course, she doesn't look afraid- sad, yes, but not afraid, and she moves closer, but she knows she's playing the part of prey.]

I broke a promise.

[as soon as she starts moving he stops again - an almost playful gesture]

Ah, think nothing of it. It's an inevitable thing, is it not? All promises are quite hollow in the end.

[he's just searching for sore spots now]
