A Good (?) Man Goes to War

Curse you, Moffat.  I'd read speculation on that very topic and told myself, "No, that would never happen.  That's too lame/tidy/weird."

Spoiler for Doctor Who )

I had the same response! I'd expected something a bit less obvious, but erm, okay. River took a little while to grow on me as well. I liked her well enough, but it was like the script was just trying too hard to sell how awesome she was ALL THE TIME while not actually giving her the chance to show it. But that calmed down a bit mid-way through last season, thankfully.

I can live with her being Rory and Amy's daughter, but the Doctor's reaction when he found out? Squick. Mountains of squick. The only way I can bring myself to accepot that he held her and smelled her as a baby is that was flesh!Melody, but still - squick. Twilight imprinting levels of Squick. Moffat really has a thing about the Doctor meeting young girls and them being obsessed with him for the rest of their lives, doesn't he? It is slightly disturbing.

Yeeeah. It's starting to get a bit embarrassing to watch - like, Moffat, do you realise how much of your id is showing? Eesh.

Agree - by the finale last season I was pretty much sold on her. She is enjoyable, if used sparingly. I actually hope she never becomes an official companion but rather stays as someone who goes along being awesome in her own time and just happens to occassionally run into the Doctor.

For some reason, I gather Moffat thinks it is all wonderful and romantic and "fairytale" but it's way overdone by now.
