Hey people, I'm wildly unskilled regarding computers. I'm wondering how you create the little link-thing in a journal entry that takes people to the longer bit that's too extensive to put in a straight-up entry. You know, the word or phrase that's in bold and underlined that you can click on once the entry is posted that then takes the reader to ( Read more... )

It's called an LJ Cut: < lj-cut> and without the spaces.

Or you could use the button. When you're writing your new entry, hover your mouse over the icons at the top and there will be one called lj cut. It looks like three gray lines and then a zig-zag line. It'll ask you what you want to say for the underlined link part, and then give you a gray box to type the long part of the entry in.

Thanks, unfortunately, my journal doesn't have that convenient little button that looks like three lines...but that may be because it's in some wacky format/text thing. So I'll be testing out Ruby's method. Thanks all!
