John, given that the vast majority of us will not be able to make it to Lois' funeral, is there some charity or something we can contribute in lieu of this? What would the family like done?

But in the meantime here are suggestions:
There is a group in Israel called Concerned Friends of Cystic Fibrosis, they have a donate icon on their website front page at http://www.cfcfisrael.org
In the USA: http://www.cff.org and the Israel site has both Israeli and American snail addresses if you elect that route, plus a display on which you can enter credit card information.
Lois had followed the story of Eva Markvoort, a Canadian biofilm actress and makeup designer, also teacher, who died at 25 of complications of CF last March.
