Procrastinating from finishing the very last bit of my paper! Wheee!

Stolen from lanyiek. List a favorite movie for each letter of the alphabet.

I'm going to try really hard not to repeat her answers, because the ones she chose for the tricky letters were quite good.

Amelie

Back to the Future (The second might be my most favorite)

Cinderella Man ( ( Read more... )

Damn, this looks like a fun one to do, and yet I'm sure if I were to start it I would end up spending three hours on IMDB and totally ignoring...everything else.

Hee, luckily I have a bunch of my favorites on my Facebook profile, so I could pick a lot of stuff from there. And I flicked through my preferred illegal downloading site's movie lists for the rest.

I did it turning (ironically enough) my The City Through Film class. And could not come with an X or a Y for the life of me. I didn't even like X-men that much.

I wish I'd gotten around to taking a film class in the past three years. I probably would've enjoyed it. I'm surprised you couldn't find a Y, I wouldn't have guessed it to be that rare a letter to start a movie title with.

So many good movies on this list. I may do this one later.

Huh, is there any movie with 'X' other than X-men? As I typed that I thought of Xanadu. But that would not make it on my list so I'm going to ignore it.

It's pretty fun, and can remind you of movies you've forgotten about. I really have to get my hands on a copy of Pleasantville one of these days...

We-ell, there's xXx, that Vin Diesel, then Ice Cube vehicle. Y'know, if you're into that kind of thing.

Heh. This looks like a fun meme. I'll probably try it.

Though, I'm hoping I can think of another x choice. X-Men is just not going to cut it. At all. [laugh]

It's not bad. Good luck with your search for another X movie.

Besides Pyro and Nightcrawler, I hated the entire X-Men trilogy. They just butchered the comics. But finding another X film is going to be a challenge. [laugh]

I like to think of superhero movies as being separate entities from their comic canons. Like with Hellboy- the creators have publicly said that the movies, the comics, and the animated features are all entirely separate, aside from sharing characters.

Hmmm... We-ell, you can fudge it a bit and go for The Matrix. Checking out the meme itself, I see no requirement that the film title has to start with the letter.

Heh, I didn't even try not to copy the person I got it from. Unfortunately, I didn't like very many of the movies they liked. I found it interesting that X was so much easier than Y. If I hadn't gone with X-Men I could have gone with X-Files, but on Y I barely thought of something that I probably don't even like anymore. And Z is just impossible, so I consider cheating a perfectly valid lifestyle choice there. :-D

Y was one of the answers I knew from the beginning, so that helped. Q is the one I really flaked on. I had to work Shaun of the Dead in there somehow anyway, so I feel somewhat clever to have beat the system.

Dogma, Hot Fuzz and Serenity should def be the first choices :)

Was going to go "what?!" over you not knowing about Blackpool lights but then I remembered you were a yank. *Pats on head*

(Ah Stig, how we love you. Although I think James-Stig is now my fave... )

That's pretty much what people think of when you say Blackpool, a sea resort in the freezing cold during Summer and the lights in winter. There's a wonderful bit in Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf - wonderful stand up, wonderful story - that sort of sums up peoples feelings about Blackpool. He's talking about before the revival of the new series:

"...and then they announced the closure of the Doctor Who exhibition in Blackpool. Can you imagine that? When the thing you love most in the world isn't deemed good enough for BLACKPOOL."

They are pretty brilliant flicks.

Yes, pity the ignorant Yank. Anyway, I've been educated now.

(Stig... He's amazing- there's nothing quite like him in any other TV show/movie I can think of. "Some say.. he has a striped shirt just like mine." And of course my personal favorite, "Some say he roams the woods at night foraging for wolves." *cracks up*)

I can relate quite a bit to Blackpool, actually. My state has a few kinda sketchy, tacky beach towns along the coast. But I love them, a lot. "Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf," eh? Who did that? It wouldn't happen to be on YouTube, would it?

It's by a guy called Toby Hadoke, it's sort of the story of his life and his love of Doctor Who and how its helped him. Sounds a bit naff I know but I went to see it and it was very funny and really quite touching - and I'm not prone to saying that.

I don't think there's a video recording of it but I know there's an audio CD and it was on BBC Radio at somepoint so there might be that about. Hope they make one.

Although one of the jokes that got the loudest laughs when he does it live, one about Margaret Thatcher, got cut out because the producer "didn't get it". Lol.
