Ooooh. The Voluntary Butler Scheme. At Breakfast Dinner Tea. Buy it now, thank me later. Actually, that Amazon page doesn't seem to have the MP3 version, but iTunes does, though I can't seem to find an online page for it. Stupid Apple. Anyway, it's awesome- I heard Multiplayer on that one Dell commercial a couple times and knew I had to check ( Read more... )

Dude, Scrimgeour was not introduced early enough. Bill Nighy was so awesome that I nearly forgot what becomes of him. And don't get me started on the house-elves. I haven't seen Brazil, but I loved that giant Ministry sequence. Middle-aged!Harry, Ron, and Hermione were superb.

That said, if they don't do the "Some say" Stig Facts, I walk.

Me, too. I want to give it another chance, but that's a dealbreaker. And they could always do something like this: "Some say he ran over Chuck Norris and Mr. T. Simultaneously."

Bill Nighy's the man, always. Yeah, the Ministry sequence was pretty great, with enemies around every corner and just the three of them.

I'll be shocked if they don't. I mean, they're Stig Facts- the Stig is not the Stig without them, he's just some dude in a jumpsuit and a crash helmet who never talks.

Unfortunately, I kept hearing traces of Davy Jones in his voice, mostly during his speech at the beginning. Dude, Umbridge was so deliciously evil in those scenes (she nearly outdid Bellatrix in the I-want-to-smack-her factor). And I especially love Middle-aged!Ron, for some reason.

Well, as of the second episode, they still haven't. But what's the point without them? I guess they wanted to explain it again for people who missed the pilot, but they can't do that every week---they need to build up the character. A big of the reason the Stig is so much fun is because "Some say he thought Star Wars was a documentary."

This episode was much better, though. More interesting car, much more interesting challenge (blind man FTW!), far more interesting celebrity (Dominic Monaghan's ideal car is either KITT or Bumblebee).

Heh, I kept noticing how strangely surprised he looked by some of the things he said, it was kind of adorable, and odd. Aww, disguised!Ron trying to comfort his disguise's wife- you see him put a hand on her shoulder during the trial, quite like Ron puts his hand on Hermione's.

*sigh* Okay, maybe I'll try to watch the rest of the episode and give them one more chance to get it right. I do want to see Dominic Monaghan's lap a whole bunch.

Considering I'm not a fan of Book 5 onward, I freakin' loved the movie. It was very well done, action-packed, and dramatic all on its own merit.

Clearly I have been too distracted by work and other crap to notice, but American Top Gear? Ummm... what channel? And why?

I kind of got lost on a few plot points, since it's been so long and I was paying so little attention when I read the book, but I still think I got what I was supposed to get out of the movie. And Harry cheering Hermione up with goofy dancing was lovely.

Yeah, American Top Gear, on the History Channel. I'm actually more surprised no one tried it sooner- I mean, America was pretty much the first car culture. Too bad this series has failed to deliver what I want from a Top Gear.

I never even properly read book seven. I just skimmed it. So that may have made it better.

I think when NBC was first trying to figure out how to handle that whole Jay Leno-Conan debacle (back when Jay decided he didn't want to retire), they toyed around with having Jay Leno host an American version of Top Gear. Which would have made sense because he's a well-known car aficionado, and it would have been easy to attract the celebrity guests to that with Leno hosting and the show being on a major network. But that obviously never came to fruition. In a way, it's too bad, because I'd really like to see Top Gear with proper promotion and money behind it, but I also think Jay Leno is a douche and do not want to see him hosting it. So there's that. *laughs*

I don't really do skimming well, so I probably decently read it. I've just read a bunch of other things that are more important to me since then and anyway, there are a lot of little things to remember. Horcruxes and Hallows and who's got that thing and how do we destroy this thing and blah blah blah.

Hm, I suppose that could've been okay. I dunno, I kind of prefer the younger guys to Leno, who has to be getting up there. And anyway, the other two hosts would definitely fade into the background if you had Jay Leno front and center.
