Legend of the Seeker Last Author Standing Sign Ups
lotseekerfic is proud to present the first ever LotSeekerFic Last Author Standing Competition!
A Last Author Standing is a fanfiction competition where members compete against each by submitting entries of 100 to 500 words based on a prompt every week and a half. The entries are voted on and people are voted off until only one author is standing who is the winner!
Top Three Winners will get the respect of their peers, bragging rights, and winner banners.
The First Place Winner, the Last Author Standing, will get all that plus one of the Save Our Seeker Banners used at last year's rallies donated by aceofhadeon ! See a picture of it HERE! It is 8 feet by 3 feet and will be shipped for free within the US. If the winner is outside the US, we may need you to help with shipping costs, depending.
Sign ups start today, and go until August 31, 2011! The first prompt will be issued on September 1, 2011!
How The Competition Works
Sign up to participate in the competition on this post. You have until August 31, 2011 to sign up. The first round will start on September 1, 2011.
It is recommended that participants at least watch this community, however, so they may see when prompts are issued and voting goes up, etc.
The Mods will post a prompt to lotsfic_events and you will have one week to answer it with a drabble between 100 and 500 words.
Submit your drabble as a comment to the prompt post on lotsfic_events .
The Mods will post all the drabbles for voting anonymously (exactly how it's done on legendland ), and voters will pick their three favorites. Voting will last three days.
At the end of the voting period, the authors with the fewest votes will be eliminated.
The number of authors eliminated will be contingent upon how many authors are currently in the competition. Over 15 - 3 eliminations per week. Over 10 - 2 eliminations per week. Less than 10 - 1 elimination per week.
The next prompt will be issued at the end of the voting period.
pristineungift is not eligible to participate, as she will serve as the tiebreaker vote in the event of a tie.
Prompts may be either a phrase, a word, a scenario, a song/fanvideo, or an image.
Drabbles
All drabbles must be at least 100 words, but no more than 500.
All drabbles must use characters or situations from Legend of the Seeker. They must be recognizable as Legend of the Seeker fanfiction which is based on the show, not the books.
Do not exceed an 'R' rating.
Do not post your drabble anywhere else until after the voting period for that round has ended.
Do not tell anyone which drabble is yours.
Betas are not allowed.
Voting
Participants must vote in at least every other round, but anyone who visits the site may vote. IP addresses will be logged, however, to prevent cheating. If two votes have the same IP address, neither will be counted.
Anyone can vote, not just participants.
Comment on the round's post with your top three picks of that week's fanfiction.
Vote based on style, concept, grammar, and how well the drabble answers the prompt, not by which ones use your favorite characters and pairings.
Do not vote for yourself.
Comments will be screened.
Winning
At the end of each voting period, the fic that received the most votes will be announced as the winner of that round.
The winner of a round will receive a 'get out of jail free card' which they may use to avoid being eliminated, or to skip a round with no penalty.
Note you can't use a get out of jail free card once there are only two people left.
Elimination
There are several ways to be eliminated:
Violating any of the rules, such as word count, rating, voting for yourself, etc. Up to the Mods' discretion. A get out of jail free card will not save you from this kind of elimination.
Missing a round will result in automatic elimination, unless you use your get out of jail free card.
Being the author with the least amount of votes at the end of a voting round, unless you use your get out of jail free card.
A get out of jail free card may not be used in the final round.
