I'll admit...I was dying to the read events following the previous update (still am), but I enjoyed reading Cara and Kahlan's fight and how Cara's leathers were destroyed. Good update.

Glad you liked it! And I think I'm going to head back to the other end of the time-line now, so you may get your wish soon!
I'm happy you enjoyed reading the fight sequence-- I haven't written anything like that in a long, LONG while... I worried it would come out all wrong!
Thanks for the review! =-)

Another great scene! I loved when Cara said she trusted Kahlan, even if she was to confess her. That was powerful. Well done, as always! :)

Wonderful, wonderful paragraph: “An honorable death,” Cara insisted, smirking, “At the hands of the Mother Confessor, protecting the kin of the true Lord Rahl? [...] We all must die someday, Confessor.”

Of course Cara has missed all-out fighting.

Awesome: “And you have been one of my life’s few worthy opponents.”

I'm glad you liked my little insight into Cara's opinion on death and old age. =-)
And OF COURSE Cara missed fighting! She's a warrior, standing around (on the show, at least) used to drive her crazy; she *hates* being idle. =-P
I'm happy you seem to like my dialog, that is perhaps the facet I am most often unsure of in my writing of this fic-- their voices are so distinctive! It can be hard to get them just right, you know? Hope I continue to please!! =-D

Ahh, there's that asbestos again! When they talk about trust, ug, it kills me. An honorable death :)

also, She did notice that the smell of leather became more calming; the cover of a book, the wrap on an official scroll, the corset beneath her dress and Cara from head to toe, lulz. Oblivious Kahlan is adorbs!

[I just realized that anyone who might have read that asbestos bit, would probably be both confused and concerned... I, however, found it adorable. =-D]

Glad you liked Kahlan and Cara's talk at the end of the scene; I worried it might have been too jarring a change in tone, and too accepting of a truce between then afterwards... I'm glad people don't seem to think so, so far! =-)

And yeah, the leather bit? Trying to show how Kahlan's sub-conscious might be trying to tell her things that the rest of her can't/refuses to figure out. We, of course, all know what it's *really* about... ;-D

lol, yeah. But that's why I wrote it. I wish I had the time/talent to do some art work for you/bribe you into writing a scene for me. It is the weekend though, so, maybe I'll try, because I really just want you to keep writing, haha.

oh, and yeah, I forgot. The awkwardness you mentioned about Cara placing her hand on Kahlan's totally made that whole part work. You definitely hit the right tone by adding that. *takes note*

Wow, another terrific scene! A good choice, dragoon23! I can imagine these tiger stripes looking scars…
Cara doesn’t value life (at least she fights to the end and thinks strategically), she still thinks of herself as a tool and I afraid she is never going to change. But she has Kahlan now to take care of her although Mother Confessor is chilling when she is in a ConDar.
Cara was so touching when was pulling back not to hurt a child. I absolutely believe in such a character; M’S were picked from the gentlest and kindest girls in D'Hara (TG) and even though now her mind and way of thinking are twisted she still has her natural qualities inside of her.
Liked the little details: Kahlan likes now smell of leather (read Cara’s), lemon, ginger and Cara notices that. And later, the cotton shift was put on for Kahlan’s sake :)
Thank you for another great story!

I'm glad you liked! And the "tiger stripe scars" bit, when it came to mind, was one of those things I just had to add.
I was really hoping to put as much little detail into this "retro-fitted"-scene as I could. A few people mentioned that the skip from news of pregnancy, to birth, to 18-month-old Lilly, to almost-3-year-old Lilly as all very drastic. I wanted to show that a lot of things happened (I'm just too lazy to write them!), and certain things helped them grow closer than others. =-)
I hope you keep enjoying my little scenes! Hopefully there should be more up this weekend! =-D
