I know everyone is getting sick of the book thing, but I just wanted to make a petit list of some famous banned books. Once again, you can find a much bigger list at
http://title.forbiddenlibrary.com/ .
Oh! Just so you know, some of these books were only challenged not banned, but still...
1. 1984- George Orwell (challenged): Perhaps the most ironic selection, seeing as how the entire book is a warning against the banning of information from the population and the evils of censorship
2. Hamlet- Shakespeare (banned): Any of you who know me know that this is just blasphemy
3. Little House on the Prairie- Laura Ingalls Wilder (banned & challenged): You think this is bad? Just wait...
4. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl- Anne Frank (challenged): People wanted to ban this book because it was sad. Yeah, Nazis can be pretty depressing sometimes, so let's just forget about them!
5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Roald Dahl (not sure): Yeah, it's generally bad when people's dreams come true and the bad guys really do get what they deserve. What is the world coming to?
6. Religious texts: The Koran, The Bible, The Talmud, Zen Buddhism (banned, burned, and other such ridiculous nonsense)
7. Brave New World- Aldous Huxley (banned & challenged): I find it amusing that the books portraying a world in which knowledge is bad as a general evil are almost always banned. On another note - EVERYONE should read this book. It is amazing and so so cool. You will NEVER take emotions for granted again, even the bad ones. Better than 1984, in my opinion.
