I almost never use semi colons when making a list. I prefer commas. The only time I might use a semi colon is if I want to explain something before the semi colon. You should probably not listen to me though, as I am not a writer and that preference is not drawn from any rule of which I am aware.

I have no grammar skillz, but I would personally use commas for that instance. I only use semicolons when I have to have a list within a list, like...

I love ice cream because it comes in a million amazing flavors: chocolate; strawberry; heath bar, caramel, and coffee; mint and chocolate; and cake batter, sprinkles, and marshmallow.

Or something. >.>

Alright, good - I thought there was some rule about only using semicolons when there are commas within the list, so this makes sense. Thanks!!

Germans hate semicolons, so I would choose the comma solution. But obviously I'm not a grammar expert in any other language ;)
