New to the fandom...

...and a little nervous after attempting the major archives, most of which don't seem to include warnings or story length.  Normally when entering the fandom, I'd just start downloading epic fics without character death, mpreg, or non-con, but finding out all of that information for a given story in the LotR archives seems to be, um, a challenge.

Have you tried the Of Elves and Men site - they have a huge FPS archive.

They do! Unfortunately, no lengths and no warnings, and I'm just too much of a wuss to risk chancing upon a character death and/or rape fic. Thanks, though!

Have you tried Henneth Annûn? They give you a lot of information beforehand and, though it's a huge archive, they tend to be selective:

For gen stories which fit in quite nicely with the original novels try, for instance, stories by Thundera Tiger. I think she's also on LJ.
