It's interesting to think about how they would have spent their holidays during such trying and dangerous times. And it's lovely to imagine them able to really celebrate after the war. Thanks for sharing this.

I did a little research before I wrote it and in fact according to the book the fellowship left Rivendell on the 25th December, having arrived in October after the attack at the Weathertop and the Council of Elrond they should have had enough time not only to prepare for the upcoming travel but also to have a little celebration whilst in Elrond’s house. I then thought of what experiences they all had during the quest and this brought me to the idea that Frodo could do a party (we know from the Hobbits that they enjoy parties). And the prep for his party I thought should be just as big and impressive as the one for Bilbo’s birthday. At least it is after the freeing of the Shire and they all have something to celebrate.
And isn’t a traditional celebration something that keep people rolling and sane in troubling times?
Merry Christmas and thanks for reading and commenting.

I like to think of them as having some good times together, however short, during the quest. The final part certainly gave the feeling of something to celebrate. Wish I could have been there! Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write this for me!

I am glad you liked it. Writing this was no trouble at all but rather a joy. I agree they all deserved a celebration. Especially after all the terror they had to live through. I believe that therefore they enjoyed each time they could forget and celebrate. I think that your feelings intensify when you go through dangerous times.
