Ruby, just returned from my travels at 1:00 AM and had to hit the computer to see what waited for me. And it's everything that I love about your writing - elegant, evocative, funny, slightly naughty, with that potential for loss and melancholy under it all.

The Steward, so fair and mild and grave of face, and beneath it all you're wild as a tween at Lithe.

I love the way they appreciate each other, even when their cultural differences emerge, as from the boots. (Although I was sorry for Faramir's disappointment - Pippin should have been more helpful!) Faramir's softening up of Frodo was so loving, and so sexy too.

And then:

...memories of Frodo, smiling soft and peaceful then wider and consoling, a star in his hand, drawing away to show himself on a white ship like a great swan, shining as it sailed off into the sea. A dream Faramir had dreamt, more than once, one of his few troubles in these days of peace.Made my heart ache in two lines. I was really glad when I got you as my recipient, because I knew that you'd see all of your gift, that you'd see eeveerything I tried to work into the story. And because it was wonderful to try to make you happy, and even more wonderful to succeed.

Sometimes I marvel at how lucky I am in the friends I've gotten from this fandom, and you are one of the reasons!

Ah, this was lovely. I've been missing you, Miss Ruby. I see the 'Kat was well pleased, as she should be. The lick behind the knee did things to me I didn't realize could be done by a casual reference to a kink I didn't know I had! A lovely, lovely gift. Nonplussed in boots ; )
