This is beautifully done! Finrod's ongoing bewilderment and grief over the mortality of mortals is such an Elven trait, and so elegantly portrayed, and the sudden fiery glory of the Yuletide celebrations is glorious. (I do like Finrod's misgivings over this shadowy mortal festival, that too seems very much the reaction of a Noldo and an outsider.)

Now that the authors have been revealed, then I can properly thank you for your comment! :) It was an interesting challenge to put myself into the head of a character coming to terms with mortality, who has yet to see gift that the wiser of his mortal brethren--like Beor--are beginning to apprehend. Writing the actual Yule festival was such a joy; winters are not kind to me and getting to lose myself in imagery concerning joy and light was much needed!
