Oh goodness! I love this tribe or clan or whatever--your world-building is so real and natural here. And the wonderful character of Hwandië. Such a perceptive child. Of course after losing two other father-figures in a row, she would worry that "Kano" might never return!

And I loved their reunion. I hope he stayed with them for a very long time after.
