Oh my, this is marvelous. Beautifully written and researched, I learned a lot here! Two passages that struck me the most were:

1. However, the fact that she and her sisters were judged remarkable indicates a tendency to be unusual and most likely somewhat unpredictable...

I never thought before about why the sisters were referred to as 'remarkable', but it explains why Gandalf referred to Bilbo as 'Belladonna Took's son' and not Bungo Baggins's son.

2. Frodo’s foresight had shown him that Sam would father many children by Rosie and that he would be Mayor for as many terms as he wished to know-as long as Sam did not choose to go on this last journey of Frodo’s at Frodo’s side...

Very insightful! This is a new way for me to think about the timing of Frodo's decisions.
