I think there's really only two ways to take this, TBH. A) They're priming Luke Skywalker for a major crisis, linked with what's clearly an extended Ben character development arc. IMO, it's exactly why we have the scene where Luke is crying (not just from pride) and saying, "Ben...you're so decent." (As for B, you know it already: it's where they argue it's in character

Seriously, I think you nailed one of the main problems with Luke's characterization -- no one calls him out on his shit. Except maybe Lumiya and Caedus, but not to his face. If anything, Caedus is...a tad too polite to say something like that to Luke's face? :/ *Sighs* If someone, anyone, had acknowledged the way Luke was acting, I don't think it would have been so bad...
I think it's not just no one does - it's as if the way the series is written, the series itself doesn't condemn Luke. On the contrary, we're encouraged to condemn Luke for being blind to Jacen's true colours, for not acting swiftly in executing Jacen.
Which actually leads to one of my peeves with LotF: I really don't think it had to be about another galactic war or cosmic evil. Consider basic war history. One reason why it took *so long* for people to act against Hitler was simply because of a world traumatised by World War I. Rather than go to war again, people wanted peace. (Not arguing about whether it was a just war or not, at this point.) Quite simply speaking, the fact that the galaxy is splintering into war for the third or fourth time, just barely separated from each other by years isn't even remotely feasible at all
