Unfinished projects week, part 4

Dec 04, 2008 08:22

This week, I am posting bunch of illustrations that I never finished. I have a tendency to start projects, then get busy with something important (like my kids or my job). By the time I get time to work the illustration again, I get blocked since I ask myself, "what if my brush stroke looks different that the rest of the piece?" This week is to ( Read more... )

WOW. This is REALLY beautiful! Was it at a zoo, or botanical garden, or...? What kind of brush or pen do you use? The detail here is fantastic! It looks like there was a piece of paper blocking out a large section of the scene. Were you going to put the robots there?

Oh I see, it's a "tree museum"?! I thought those only existed in Joni Mitchell songs!

Thank you for your praise. I guess now I feel less embarrassed now. I kind of felt they were half dressed and I was showed a half naked drawing. Now I feel good that even uncompleted that people still manage to appreciate them ( ... )

I am really enjoying "Unfinished Projects" week. I can definitely relate to your "what if my brush stroke looks different that the rest of the piece?" comment. I am starting work on page 61 of a story I haven't worked on in over a year and those are my thoughts exactly. I really like this drawing in particular precisely because of all the detail.

Thanks. I think it was the amount of detail was the triumph and downfall of this illustration. If I only had more time and less detail I would have actually have finished this comic. But yet, with out all the detail, it would not have looked half as good. Damn you, temporal restraints. Why can I not live in the world of an artist and in the real world of responsibilities at the same time.

Umm, maybe ... it has been over two years since anybody has done one. I figured if I was going to work on an unfinished comic, it would be "Thinking About ...". I did draw 6.5 pages and the cover for that one (which is the farthest I have ever gotten with any comic one my own), but yet everybody already forgot that one.

Sigh! So I have to finish Thinking About and The Future is so Futuristical? I guess you will want me to finish Norlin Voyage after that ... what about all the dozens of scripts I wrote out? Not to mention all the hundreds of ideas I never even wrote.

Sure ... just do not expect them any time soon. :P
