I'm one of the few people who likes the idea of Canada's health care system (although, I don't know the specifics). The taxes paid are much higher than anything we have here, but for a lot of our citizens (and many of my friends) either aren't offered insurance at work or the only way they can get much needed coverage is to work at jobs they hate. I used to work in food and bev, from cooking to washing dishes, and no job I've ever had offered health care coverage. I'm currently a temp, too, and still in the same predicament.
I'd imagine the amount of money I'd pay in increased taxes would be far less than going to the hospital.
I have been tempted to move to a country with socialize health. They have managed to make it work in Canada, Europe and Australia. It can work here, just too many special interest lobbists smoking that fat money. Bah!
i just had a conversation about this yesterday. liberals waste tax money on things like roads and education, while conservatives spend much much more money on things like wars and corporate bailouts.

Liberals are about society and environment. I think I would rather be a liberal since I want something left for my children.
