The Democratic Party couldn't wait to have a nominee until mid August as it would have given McCain and the Republicans to much of a head start on the general election campaign. The idea to use this primary as a redo in Michigan was floated around but nixed for the reasons I already stated. Michigan screwed itself and the Democrats should have either done nothing or stuck to it's guns and stripped them of their delegates. By giving the delegates back it is like not letting your kid drive your car for a few months and then buying him a brand new automobile. Again, this is only my opinion.
Yes, at this point in the game in August, it does not matter how Michigan would vote in a redo. However, my point was that the Michigan Democratic Party months ago said that they did not have the money to have a revote when Obama and Clinton were still neck and neck. Yet money is already being spent to make the ballots and run this local primary vote for tomorrow that has congressional candidates and local ballot initiatives. If Michigan can move one primary up to January, why not move the second one up too (to April or May)? Or why did we even have two votes in the first place? If we wanted to save money we should have one primary with both presidential and local candidates on the ballot.
