Lost HoHoHo Sign Ups are Open!!!
Sign ups are open for Lost HoHoHo, the Lost fandom's holiday fic exchange! You write a story for someone - someone writes a story for you - holiday cheer abounds! It’s that simple!
I've posted the rules below, so participants will know what's expected before signing up. Please read this entire post first.
If you sign up for Lost HoHoHo, you will be assigned to write one story for another participant, and you will receive one story written especially for you. The "secret" part of the Secret Santa is that you will receive one story based on one of your requests, but you won't know which one you're getting or who's writing it until it's posted.
You submit three different requests; your Santa may write any one of them. Things you may want to include in your requests: pairing or characters, a scenario, genre, prompt, object or something else that will spark a story. You may also include whether or not you want smut and/or a preferred rating. Your requested fic needn’t involve Christmas or the holidays unless that's what you want. All pairings/ratings are welcome.
If your requests are highly unusual and/or specific it is unlikely they will easily be matched. If you’ve always really wanted to read a Locke/Karl vampire AU MPREG fic, that’s great, but please do not request it here. Or if you do, your other two requests need to be easy ones to accommodate. Please try to make your requests something that another writer might reasonably be expected to fulfill; this will help ensure that you are not disappointed.
When you sign up to Lost HoHoHo, you are committing to write a story as a gift for someone. Due to the seasonal nature of this project, there is a hard deadline (Jan. 1). If you don't think you will be able to write your story before the due date, please don't sign up. If you run into unexpected difficulties, please contact us as soon as possible. Defaulting on your obligation means someone who has contributed will not receive a gift or a pinch-hitter writer will have to fulfill your obligation for you. If you sign up and then drop off the radar without delivering a story, then you will be banned from taking part in future challenges at this comm.
Don't discuss your story in detail anywhere public before your fic is posted. This is a Secret Santa, after all and you don't want to spoil the surprise!
Please make sure that your story has been edited for spelling, grammar and formatting. If you are looking for a beta reader, a mentor, or just for some general hand-holding, you should be able to find someone at thequillstation.
Stories should be 1000 words or more. There is no upper limit.
