Guess whose coming out in Riverdale

In this day and age, gay characters are nothing new. While some authors and writers might still get a publicity crack out of that kind of statement (Dumbledore, anyone?), I'm personally over the novelty.

ARCHIE COMICS however, adding a gay character to the cast just about made my eyes bug out

This development is especially bizarre if you consider Archie's previous diversion into right-wing Christianity.

According to that article, Hartley (author of the Christian Archie) died in 2003.

Plenty of time for the rest of the Archie writer crew to decide on a new direction.

I've heard positive things about the Kevin story however, namely that it avoids being a "Very Special Episode" doesn't have the Archie gang making a bigger deal out of his sexuality than the gay character himself and even chooses to poke a little fun at Jughead's long-standing mysogyny.

I may have to go pick this one up, even if I haven't bought an Archie title in years.

I think the real teller however will be if Kevin ever shows up again in the Archie cast or if he just is a throwaway character.
