I got my father-in-law's new used laptop to work with his home network. Turns out that the settings had extra security on by default, so it was trying to log in to the network, like it would for a college or workplace network. (And as it used to be used on one, it makes perfect sense that it was set up that way.) I updated his antivirus etc, so
