So for New Years the_mae_nymph and I went to see lucky_liberty and her husband in Morgantown. We had a blast. Mostly we just watched YouTube videos, because we're cool like that..

Anyhow. They had the most amazing coffee pot. It was one of the Keurig coffee makers. I was in love. Coffee at my finger tips without the messy hassle of making too much.

We talked ourselves out of ( Read more... )

lol at the clerk thinking you were in high school! When I was 25, a man on the tube asked me if I was alright being out on my own at that hour of the night, what with it being a school night and everything...

I think the whole vegan thing began as a rebellion against mass production of animals and animal products. And I totally see the point in that. Every individual not buying mass produced animal products makes a difference.

However, if you do have a good organic store, or a farmer you know and trust, then I think it's totally okay to eat eggs and the like. That's what I do.

What scares me a bit is the raw-vegan trend. People who eat nothing processed anymore at all. No animal products of any kinds and nothing that's been cooked, steamed, baked, or in any way processed. They basically live on raw vegetables, fruits, and rolled oats. I'm not sure that's healthy at all.

I agree with it being a rebellion against mass produced animals. I grew up on a small family owned beef farm (100% organic. My dad is honest when it comes to his beef) but I never enjoyed beef. Or pork (even when we raised pigs). All I really ever like was chicken, venison, and ( I hate to admit it...) rabbit.
We raised chickens as well so we were never for want.

But even if I have farm raised organic beef at my disposal... It falls to a moral level with me. That animal did not choose to be eaten. And it isn't right of us to deal out death to any creature. With that said... Since I raised chickens myself at one point; i even watched their behaviors... Chickens do not give a damn about their unfertilized eggs. End of story. They will actually eat the eggs if not collected in a timely fashion. So how is it immoral then to eat eggs? (Sorry for my blabbering. This is why I could never go true vegan. Most vegans actually give me a headache when it comes to their arguments on eggs...)

As for raw vegans... We tried that for a time. We bought ( ... )

Your rambling was interesting, so thanks.

I only eat organic animal products (like milk, eggs, meat, any product contains even faint traces of an animal product, like chocolate or cookies). I don't eat a lot of meat, actually pretty seldom. When I do, it's always organic, and I enjoy it (that's the least thing I can do to honor the animal's sacrifice; it's what the ancient people did, too - they hunted, and then they celebrated and thanked the animal for letting them hunt and eat it).

Our farmer friend is so great! 2$ a dozen for farm fresh eggs. In the summer months he sells apples and vegetables from his garden. In the fall he sells home made honey and fresh grown corn.

It's awesome living in the middle of no where!

Well you should take the lady who thought you were in high school as a complement. You probably just look younger than you are to her and it will work out for you when you are older. :)

Hey, I talked to your brother the other day. He might be coming down to Morgantown for a few days to hang out. You should call me some time. Get back to me and I can give you my number if you don't have it anymore.
