Ilana studied him.
His name was synonymous with deceit. Yet this frantic, wide-eyed man with the downturned mouth, his breath choked with heartache and stammering sorrowful words, was no longer the island’s silver-tongued Iago.
It should have been enough to simply let him live. Her conscience, however, could not allow him to walk away with a heavy heart.
“I’ll have you,” she said without thought. Three words and he followed, the man who had killed the only one who had ever put faith in him. She hoped this act eased his suffering, for now.
He had much left to do.
