((OOC: Yay! Then Gwen has a reason to be out, since it's a few hours before the Torchwood Christmas party :D))

Gwen pulled her jacket more tightly around her, shivering in the cold December air as she walked along the sidewalk, glancing at the shop windows.

She'd really ought to get something nice for Rhys. Something expensive, special. Something that would make him happy.

Recently, things had been strained between them at best, but she really did love him. She did. She just needed to remember that when she was at Torchwood.

Gwen swore softly under her breath, annoyed at herself that even now, while she was christmas shopping, her thoughts inevitably slid back to Torchwood.

The Master, in the mean time, had found himself some very color red-and-green striped mittens. He didn't precisely need them but he thought they would add some holiday magic and possibly bits of yarns to crimes he would commit later on in the evening.

The woman was vaguely familiar and he thought of asking if he'd sent her to the Himalayas once before, but he thought for the sake of prolonging a conversation, he would briefly behave.

"I always wait until the last minute myself," he murmured as he joined her in peering through the window.

"Mm," Gwen nodded, "From the looks of it, a lot of people waited until the last minute." She turned away from the window to look at the man who had spoken to her.

He looked vaguely familiar, as if she'd seen him somewhere before.

"Ah, procrastination," The Master replied with a slight and friendly smirk. "The true meaning of Christmas. It's too difficult to put in a box and place under the tree though so here we are."

He gestured vaguely at other shoppers and pair of them with his mittened hands before eying her somewhat sheepishly. "I'm David Marsters, by the way. And you?"
