A couple of days ago, I finally went to get my New Mexico Driver's License.

You'd think that as soon as we arrived in New Mexico, I would have sprinted to the DMV/MVD to stake my residential claim. But no, vanity was holding me back. I believed after a few months of walking all over Albuquerque, I would lose tons of weight, thus feeling better about ( Read more... )

I hope you already know that this woman was clearly uncomfortable and there was little you could have done "right". Your uncertainty about your weight really isn't a good excuse to turn you away for service. :P

I never weigh myself either. I weighed 170 when I worked at FedEx and I weigh 145 now, apparently. Keep in mind that I was biking 8-20 miles a day and doing hard labor when I was heavier... now I sit on the couch all day and am on SSRIs. No idea how any of this is happening. I think it's perfectly fair not to know exactly what you weigh, especially after a lot of lifestyle changes, no matter what they are. :)

You're right. For one thing, though I had arrived in the early afternoon, by the time she got to me, it was late afternoon and she was really ready to go home.

I found the experience amusing, that's why I wrote about it. Though I felt badly this woman was having a difficult day. She seems intelligent. Far too intelligent to be a clerk for the DMV/MVD.

How tall are you, again? 5'4''? It's amazing how much weight an individual can fluctuate. It wasn't until I hit age 35 that I found attempting to lose weight to be difficult. It was easy to lose 15 pounds, which I only needed to do once during my mid-20s, going from 130 to 116. Today, is a different story. Of course, far more exercise would help!

Peace, Little Sis. :)
