... There is FANFICTION of Archer's Goon???

(I mean, I adored that book so much I can't even begin to explain it. Practically knew it by heart... This is so weird I have literally no idea how to react. Don't even think I can read the pic, it'd be so strange.)

Oh, yes! It's a regular at Yuletide and DWJ Yuletiders are amazing! Seriously, I don't think you'd be weirded out by the fic - its tone is pitched exactly right. I get very picky about DWJ fic myself, especially Fire & Hemlock but the people who usually write her for Yuletide are just amazing. This one follows Erskine, Hathaway, Torquil and Howard post-canon. (I don't know if anyone's yet done the What Happened on That Spaceship fic, which is a serious oversight, though!)

It's a brilliant book, though; one of my faves of hers, definitely. She was such a wonderful and unique writer. :-)

Oh I trust you to only rec stuff that's good - it's just the *idea* that's weirding me out.

... Aye. Although it could not possibly have a happy ending. /o\

Heh, Yuletide pretty much exists to make fic happen for all the things you think would never have fic! :-)

Although it could not possibly have a happy ending. /o\

Well, it could - just not for everyone!

My absolute favourite of hers is Fire & Hemlock, which I have read so many times - and then every time I find someone writing meta about it online, they just reveal new layers I hadn't ever thought of. It's amazing, and she always seems so very straight-forward in her prose. AC I used to re-read a lot to cheer myself up - especially the bit in the middle where an Englishman's home is his castle.

It was! I'm always grumbling about never being able to find the good stuff in amongst the million and one fluffy AUs, but that one was cute and fun without being too sappy & it just popped up on one of the comms I follow this morning!

Thank you for the rec!

I like the idea of doing a semi-regular random recs post - I might steal it.
