I have to re-read this fic before I read the commentary (even though I've read the fic four or five times already!)

And despite having read it so many times, I still cry over Janey, and more specifically Liz's reaction...

The bit where Jo picks up the random object to distract Three is so very Jo!

Just now catching up on flist (a head cold's been slowing me down this week) and saw this post!

Oh, dear! So sorry I picked the one you were hoping no one would select! *hugs*

And sorry to hear that Janey's fainting spell in her lecture was related to a friend's RL event! I have to say this line I passed out in the middle of Nineteenth Century Reform and nobody could find out why, so they sent me home. caught my attention while reading it, because with the Doctor and time-travel, it could have just as easily been the historical period and not a lecture (and just struck me as being such a perfect Doctor Who line).

I really liked the mutual curiosity between Jo and Liz, plus the study of Three's interactions with Brig, Liz, and Jo.

And, of course, the very subtle underlying Brig/Liz made me smile quite a lot.

Thank you for revealing some of your secrets about this piece. (I think it's a pretty brilliant one and love it more each time I re-read it!)

Hah, thanks. Glad you liked it and thanks for the lovely review over on Teaspoon. I hope you are feeling much better now!

Oh, my friend was all right (and it didn't occur to me what I'd taken it from till I wrote the commentary - she'd have killed me for putting her in a DW story in any, way shape or form!).

And when I put out the Commentary post, I thought this one would be an interesting one to write up and then thought again. The real reason is simply that I wrote out of loneliness, but if I say that it sounds a) pretentious and b) Mysteriously Tragic or just plain sad, when in actual fact I'd stopped feeling lonely before I even started writing it, which is the typical irony of fic-writing.

But that's the nice thing about fic, I suppose, even fan fic, which is by and large a bit sillier than actual fic, that you can write straight text and have all this messed up subtext underneath that you're the only one who has to know about.

I'm glad you liked it anyway. There should be underlying Brig/Liz in more things. Hah. ;-D
